types of computer memory|| primary and secondary memory

  computer memory are the most important part of the computer without this devices we can't store our important documents and without the memory the computer cant't be start because like a simple human have a brain that is the main part of our body without this we can't do anything so like thi  the computer also needs a brain to store data user dat like the human brain.Computer memory is more efficient and more reliable than the human memory.

types of computer memory:

     Their are two types of computer memory:

1. Primary memory
2. Secondary memory

Primary memory:

      Primary memory are the temporary memory that is this type of storage devices stores data temporarily.It is also known as volatile memory.this memory are the central memory of computer.This memory is the resident in the motherboard.This is the most important computer storage devices.

        Primary memory is the physical memory that is internal to the computer.Another term for primary memory is main memory or random access memory(RAM).It holds instruction for processing data.

     The primary memory are two types such as:

1. RAM(Random Access Memory)
2. Rom(Read only Memory)

RAM: 

      Ram stands for random access memory.This is the primary storage area,used to store and retrive information taht is paased to the CPU for processing.The internal memory that can be read from as well as return to is called RAM.This type of memory allows the user to eter data and then retrieve it.

Rm are of two types:

 a.DRAM(dynamic random access memory )

 b.SRAM(statcic random access memory)

ROM:

        Rom stands for read only memory.In this memory information once stored remain fixed i.e, it can not be changed so rom can only be read and used it can not be change generally roms contains a set of instruction.

 Rom are of three types;

1.  PROM(programmable read only memory)  
2. EROM(Erasable Programmable Read Only memory)
3. EEROM()Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory)

Secondary memory

     Secondary memory are the external memory.this memory are used to read/write operation.secondary storage are the non volatile memory that is the dat in this type of memory are stored permanently.It is less expensive for storage character.than the mrimay memory and use large amount of data.

Magnetic tape

         Magnetic tape is 1/4 inch ribbon plastic like coated with a thin layer of iron oxide.Magnetic tape stores data sequentially i.e one after another.To accessing data you must read every record preceding it.Magnetic tape can store large quantities data magnetic tapes erasable durable.

Magnetic disk
        Magnetic disk is a metallic platter on which electronic data can be stored.Note the less data is accessed in much the same way that an individual song is selected on a long playing record Accessing data immediately without having to start at the beginning.

Floppy disk;
        A floppy disk is also called simply a diskette or disk is a small flexible maylar disk coated with iron oxide and use to store data.Floppy diskettes  have been developed around sence the early 1970s .Originally the were 8 inches diameter today they are available in 3*1/2.

Hard disk:
       Hard disk are the main storage media of a computer.Hard disk are placed inside the CPU.Hard disk drive are the work house of the computer system.Hard disk are the collection of patter stacked one avob the other,these platter has data stored on them.Data is stored or retrieved the disk using a conducting coil called head.Data is organize in the set of concentric rings  called tags.In a fixed head disk their is one read /write head per tag.

 Optical disk:
               Optical technology involves the use of laser beams.This technolgy has created new types of secondary storage media for computer,including optical user disk,optical cards,and tape prediction suggest that by the ebd of this cebtury,most storage will be optical.

CD-ROM:
       CD ROM  (compact disk read only memory )is a compat disk (CD) that contains data accessible by a computer.CD-ROM are popularly used to distribute computer software,includin games and multimedia application,through any dat can be stored .a120mm CD-ROM holds 650 or 700 of data.

And other optical disk are CD-R,CD RW,DVD ROM DRIVE,FLASH DRIVE,
